A couple weeks ago, we had a wonderfully warm and sunny weekend and I knew I had to spend part of it at Bodnant Garden. Such a good decision. We were greeted at the walk just inside the entrance by an array of bright reds, yellows, and oranges:
Wandering down the path, I saw these rhododendrons that made me think of flamenco skirts:
It seemed like everywhere I turned there were more rhododendrons blooming in every color (and even more still in buds, waiting their turn):
But it wasn’t all rhododendrons — those just seemed to be the most photogenic of the flowers I encountered. 😉 I managed to capture some other interesting plants, like the mountain witch alder (fothergilla monticola):
And this “Persian lily” (fritillaria persica):
But the best moment of the day wasn’t about flowers at all. While walking down toward the Old Mill we paused to say hello to a little robin sitting on a bench. He sat quite still and watched us, and when my husband caught a little bug the robin ate it right out of his hand.
