We finally made it to the shortest day of the year. With just 7.5 hours of sunlight, I’m fairly sure this is the shortest day I’ve experienced in my life. (I also slept in this morning, so I managed to miss the first 30 minutes or so of the day.)
The darkness is hard, but I’m so grateful that here in Conwy the sun still shines on the darkest day of the year. And after today we’ll work our way back toward the summer solstice, with 17 hours of daylight and the soft warmth of Welsh summers.
To shine is to be surrounded by the dark — Donald Justice
