It’s been a while since I last posted on this blog, and I have a confession:
I’m not an expat in Germany anymore.
At the beginning of this year, we up and moved to an adorable town in North Wales. The move was in the works for a number of months, which may explain the dearth of posts in the second half of last year. It’s hard to spend a lot of time writing about what it’s like to live somewhere when you’re spending most of your time planning to live somewhere else. Also, I spent a ridiculous amount of that time dealing with bureaucracy. In fact, I am still not fully extricated from German bureaucracy. That shit follows you.
Thankfully, our move to Wales involved much less bureaucracy. (So far. Knock on Touch wood.) It was also generally made easier because we both could communicate with everyone here from day 1. Not that everything was rainbows and unicorns, of course. I saved up a few stories, good and not-so-good, and I promise to spend more time this year sharing them.
Here’s to life as expats in a new place!
