I finally received my DTZ test results! Actually, in typical bureaucratic fashion, I had to go pick up my results from the language school and sign a paper saying I received them. I could have gotten them a few weeks ago, but I was busy enough that I kept putting it off.
As luck would have it, I got an official letter from BAMF on the same day, confirming that I passed my Integrationskurs. And I passed everything with flying colors! (The best part? Now I can get back half of what I paid for my language courses. Sweet!)
Not surprisingly, I got a perfect score on the Orientierungskurs exam. (That’s the multiple choice test where you can study all of the questions ahead of time.) But I was pleasantly surprised to find out that I received a nearly perfect score on the DTZ exam, too! I missed just one point on the reading/listening section — but I got a full score on both the writing and speaking sections!
In other words, I am now officially a B1 German speaker. Of course, ever since I stopped attending German courses for 20 hours a week, my German has been getting a little rusty. I’m just not required to use German all that much in my daily life. I’ve been trying to keep it up by practicing vocabulary with Memrise and speaking as much as possible when I’m out and about.
I do miss getting to spend half my day learning a new language and spending time with other new immigrants, but I am excited that these days I get to focus on living a more normal daily life — even if it doesn’t include as much German.

Congratulations! I was just wondering whether you get an actual score if you just get a pass/fail mark. Getting a score definitely appeals to me as a nerd! Hopefully this will be me in a few months! =)
Thanks! The only thing that really matters in the grand scheme of things is whether you get an A2 or B1 level, but the score appeals to my nerdy nature, too. 🙂 I hope it goes just as well for you!
