It started snowing here in Aachen this week. Given that I have to go to class almost daily again, and I’m still in denial about battling a slight cold, I decided to do some knitting. It’s something that doesn’t take a lot of effort, and at the end I have something warm and fuzzy to wear.
I pulled out some cream-colored yarn, leftover from a long-forgotten project. Seriously, I think I’ve had this yarn since at least college. I grabbed my circular knitting needles and found a hat pattern (Truffle, design by Susanna IC). One with nice faux-cabling. And despite having circular needles on hand, this was my first circular knitting project!
I think it ended up looking pretty good. It’s tall enough that I can fold up the brim or wear it slouchy and pretend I have some kind of hipster fashion sense.
Of course, now I’m noticing that the scarf I wore with it is more white than cream-colored. And I still have some of this yarn and some green yarn of the same type. Perhaps I need a faux-cable scarf to match …
Looking great – I’d never have guessed it was your first circular project.
I’m glad I stumbled upon your blog while idly browsing knitting related posts – I love expat blogs about Germany. It’s so interesting (and sometimes funny…), looking at your own country through the eyes of others.
Thank you! I think most of the mistakes are hidden at the very top of the hat. 😉
I know what you mean about reading expat blogs — since starting this blog I have also read expat blogs about the US, and it’s interesting to see what catches people’s attention. And I’m excited to find a fun knitting blog by someone who lives not so far away!
