I always feel like I’m a little late finding out about special events here. Just last week, I was sitting at my desk when I heard music coming from outside. I peered out the window, and there was a little procession going by. A person on a horse was at the lead, followed by crowds of people carrying lanterns and a band.
Luckily, a friend of mine had just explained Martinmas, a holiday celebrating St. Martin. I remembered the importance of lanterns, and I figured this must be related. I suppose I could have run downstairs and followed the procession, asking the people there about it, but my sniffly nose encouraged me to just take a video:
For the life of me I couldn’t find any information on our local event listings sites talking about St. Martin’s Day or any related activities … I guess I need to find another source to tell me about these kinds of things!
hmmm… I wonder who you could be talking about? =) What fun! I’d really love to start a tradition like this here!
Seriously, I wouldn’t have had any idea what was going on if it weren’t for you! 🙂 I bet you could organize a similar event with your church or just with a group of families. It could be very cool!
