Between studying German and making arrangements for the move, I have been daydreaming about life in Aachen. For the past 4.5 years, Argentine tango has been a big part of my life. (At one point I was dancing 5 days a week!) So, of course, tango has been on my mind.
Thankfully, there is a comprehensive website about tango in Aachen. It looks like we can attend milongas at least a couple times a week. We are also excited to see if any of the students at the local university are interested in dancing. (We both learned tango as graduate students and spent many hours practicing with our university’s tango club.) Either way, I look forward to meeting the members of my new tango community.
We have also been told—almost every time we mention the upcoming move—that we won’t be far from Nijmegen. A very popular tango event, called the Chained Salon, occurs once a month there at El Corte. Reading a description of El Corte on the 1 Step Tango blog certainly piques my interest. Not to mention that at all of these tango events I’m more likely to run into some kindred Spanish-speaking spirits!
